CanFly wiring diagram with a battery backup system.

This diagram shows the recommended wiring for a CanFly system with a TCW IBBS-12V-6AH that will power the Engine Data Unit, Engine Data Display and the CanFly ECU's independently of the main bus power.

We expect this design to give at least 1 hour of operational time of the system. The ECU generators will provide all of the power above around 1500 rpm so the time of the battery will only be limited by the EDU and EDD power. This is only 750ma so should last at least 3 hours.

There is a cut-off point for the ECU generators at around 1200 rpm where reliable operation will not be guaranteed. This system will allow the aircraft to operate below the RPM limit so long as there is enough charge in the IBBS battery.

Please refer to the TCW industries documentation for complete details of the IBBS.

The following base timing and fuel maps are available.

  • O235 This requires either injector holes to be drilled in the cylinder heads or the injectors installed in the primer ports.
  • O320
  • O340
  • O360
  • O375
  • O390

WARNING: The above maps are for getting your engine running and should be used as a base map that will need tuning.

To load these maps into your kMAGS's you need to download and install the CanFly® Commander application for Microsoft Windows. Please connect the CanFly® USB adapter to the PC.

Before you power on the system we recommend you follow the instructions in Disable Windows Crazy mouse as Microsoft Windows has a nasty habit of thinking Can Bus data is a mouse. Not that I have seen a Microsoft Serial mouse in the past 10 years but they still support them!

Once the Commander is running, select the kMAG status page and select File>Open... and load the XML file.

Review the document Tuning CanFly® and make any changes you need. We recommend not doing too much till your engine is running.
